Overview

Guided Access allows you to lock an iPad into a single app, preventing users from leaving the application or accessing unauthorized features. It is managed locally on the device via a triple-click or remotely through Apple Classroom and Mosyle.

Quick Setup & Usage

1. Enable the Feature

  • Navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access.
  • Toggle Guided Access to On.
  • Tap Passcode Settings to set a 6-digit code (required to exit the session).

2. Start a Session

  • Open the desired app.
  • Triple-click the Top button (on iPad Air/Pro/Mini) or the Home button (on older models).
    • Optional: Circle any areas on the screen you wish to make unclickable.
  • Tap Start in the top-right corner.

3. End a Session

  • Triple-click the Top or Home button.
  • Enter your 6-digit passcode.
  • Tap End in the top-left corner.

Managing Multiple Devices (For Teachers & Staff)

Setting up Guided Access manually on many devices can be inefficient. Use these tools for remote management:

  • Apple Classroom: Best for teachers to lock an entire class into a specific app simultaneously. [View Apple Classroom Guide]
  • Mosyle Manager (MDM) - Technology Services Usage: Administrators may "force" iPads into a permanent Single-App/Kiosk Mode. [View Mosyle Tutorial]
