MacBook Password Change Reset
- MacBooks require multiple steps to fully reset a password change before everything will work using the new password AKA “SYNCED”
The 3 Steps to Success!
Step 1: Reset Google Password
- Staff can update themselves at -> password.csd509j.net
- Or Reset the Password using Active Directory
Step 2: Reset MacBook Login Password
- If Synced with Mosyle, click on the Key Icon on the top right and click Reconnect. That should sync the email password with the login password.
-
If not Synced with Mosyle (and the Staff don’t want to be..There are reasons involving AppleID’s and interactions with other Apple products/devices)
- Settings>Users & Groups>Select User and click on the “i”, you’ll see an option to change the Login Password.
Step 3: Reset Keychain/Papercut Credentials
- Papercut uses Keychain to pass credentials for local file print jobs
- The easiest method to update Keychain after a password change is to send a basic print job to Virtual Xerox. (NOT FROM GOOGLE! Print a page of a PDF, Word, or any FILE stored locally.)
- The Print Job will fail or be put on “Hold for Authentication”
- Pull up the Print Center, find the job, and click the “lock refresh” button on the far right.
-
A Keychain menu will appear. Check that the Username is first.last, that the box is clicked for “Remember this password” and that they enter the NEW password. The old password will autofill by default, so be careful! Click “OK” and Done!
