Corvallis School District Student Device and Online System Use Agreement

The Corvallis School District provides students with devices and digital tools to enhance their learning and access a wide range of resources. These tools are governed by agreements designed to ensure student data privacy and safety.

Where appropriate, district-provided online learning systems are accessible both on and off our secure internet network. While school staff monitor device and online system use at school, families are responsible for supervising their student's use at home.

Students are expected to follow district policies and laws when using any district technology.

The Corvallis School District reserves the right to monitor, suspend, or revoke access for any user account suspected of inappropriate use.

For more information, please refer to the Student Parent Handbook on the Corvallis School District website.

Behavior Intervention and Consequences (Technology-Related)

The Corvallis School District addresses technology-related misuses according to its tiered behavior intervention system, as outlined in the District Behavior Guidelines Handbook and levelled Behavior Intervention Matrices. Consequences aim to repair harm and prevent future incidents.

Student Device Agreement

The following agreement is included for students to read and sign prior to their use of district technology.

Caring for My Device

  • I will not try to fix, change, or ‘hack’ my school device, and I will report anything that is wrong or broken to my teacher or SPOC.
  • I will be held accountable for anything broken by being careless or letting someone else use my device.
  • I will return my device, its case, and its charger at the end of the year.

Being Safe and Respectful Online

  • I will only use my school device for learning and school activities.
  • I will not give out personal information, like my password, first and last name, phone number, or address.
  • I will tell a trusted adult (like my parent/guardian, teacher, or SPOC) if anything I see online makes me feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
  • I will be respectful online and not bully, harass, or use any language or posts that could upset others.
  • I understand that my teachers, principals, and parents/guardians can see what I do on my device anytime there is a concern.

Doing My Own Work

  • I will keep my battery charged and ready for my first class.
  • I will do my own work for my classes, and I will not copy the work of others.
  • I will only use AI tools in the way my teacher says is ok.

Student Agreement

I have read the rules about using school devices and online systems, and I agree to follow them. I know that if I break the rules, there will be consequences based on the District Behavior Guidelines (DBG) and the Behavior Intervention Matrix (BIM) such as: a meeting with my family and the principal, a behavior referral, a “No Device Plan,” I may need to pay for damage or loss of a device, or being suspended. I can read more about this in the Student Parent Handbook on the Corvallis School District website.
