  • Nitrile Gloves
  • Clear sticky tape (Scotch/Packing) or Electrical tape
    • Do Not use Masking/Duct Tape

Create a Drop-off location in the Building

Work with Building Admin

  • Talk with your building OM and come up with a good location to collect batteries.
    • Inform building staff of the chosen location and procedure

Create a Drop-Off box (non-metal) w/tape dispenser

  • Find a small-sized cardboard or plastic box. (non-metal)
    • Label box “Dispose of Used Batteries Here. Tape the +positive end”
    • Make sure a scotch tape dispenser is available
      • If possible, please put an example in the box with the positive end taped
      • Do NOT use Masking or Duct tape (NO fabric style tapes)

Once the Box is full, put in a ticket for Surplus Pickup

  • Put taped batteries into a plastic ziplock bag (tape them if needed). Please wear nitrile gloves.
    • Wear appropriate PPE: gloves and eye protection. (Be careful please)
    • Follow surplus procedures and create a surplus pickup ticket
