Using Google Translate

Product: Google Chrome and Google Translate

Audience: Students and Staff

Overview

This walkthrough is intended to help students and staff translate text in the Canvas app into the appropriate language they’d like to read. This method will also work on other web pages viewed with Google Chrome.

Tools/Equipment Needed

  • Chromebook or a Computer that has Google Chrome installed

Use Google Translate to Change the Language

Video Walkthrough

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.

Right-Click in Chrome Window & Select “Translate”

  • Right-click on the page you wish to translate and click the “Translate” option. In this example, we will be Translating in Canvas, specifically in the Assignments section.
  • If you do not have a mouse but you have a trackpad, press and hold the Alt key and tap on the trackpad to right-click!
  • If the language translation needs to be changed, click the 3 dot menu button and select the language of choice.
  • Note: The “Quizzes” section in Canvas can not be translated. If translation options are intended to be allowed, use “Assignments,” not “Quizzes.”

Conclusion

You should now be able to use Google Translate to translate content within Canvas and other websites.
