Product: Google Drive App

Audience: Google Drive App Users

Overview

When using the Google Drive app on a Windows device, users expect a seamless integration between their local file system (Windows Explorer) and their cloud-based Google Drive. However, sometimes shared drives, which are collaborative spaces within Google Drive, might not appear as expected within Windows Explorer.

Steps in Process

  • Step 1 - Open the Google Drive app.
    • In the toolbar, select the Google Drive App. (Sometimes you may have to select the little “up arrow” to display the app.
  • Step 2 - Select the settings icon.

  • Step 3 - Select Preferences

  • Step 4 - Select Google Drive on the left side of the preferences window.

  • Step 5 - Select the settings icon in the top right.

  • Step 6 - Disconnect Account

  • Step 7 - Re-connect Google Drive App to your Google account.
    • The Google Drive App should automatically restart and prompt you to “Get Started”.

  • Step 8 - Sign into your Google Account.

  • Step 9 - Select your School District Google account.

  • Step 10 - If prompted, select “Sign in”.  (You should already have the Google Drive App installed, so there is no need to download and install it.)
  • You hope to see that you were successfully logged into the Google Drive App.

  • Step 11 - Complete Google Drive App setup.
    • You are now connected and there is nothing more to do in order to be able to view your Google Drive and Google Shared Drives in Windows Explorer.  You may continue to setup your computer or photos to sync to your Google Drive or skip through to complete the Setup Wizard.
