Maintenance Checklist for Windows Machines
Please read over the list prior to scheduling time to work on the machine. Run all of these items to clean up the Windows basedcomputers for their maintenance cycle. If you run them in the order presented the final parts will actually go faster as you move through the list.
Reach out if you have any questions pertaining to this list, and if anything fails during the process. Getting all of the boxes checked is going to take a reasonable amount of time depending on how poor the system state is. Make sure you let your staff member who's device you'll be working on know that it's going to take awhile and see if you need to provide them a device. Your loaners should suffice for the time needed.

Uninstall all unused or unwanted software
- Dell support assistant
- CrisisGo
- Any software items that the AA isn’t using (Check with them first)
- Clear browser cache and cookies
- Run disk cleanup and include system files, check all of the boxes
- Run disk defrag (Typically nothing will show up on solid state drives)
- Navigate to - C:\Users\”First.Last”\AppData\Local\Temp delete everything that will allow itself to be deleted. Skip all files that say they’re open or in use

Install or verify the installation of Dell Command Update
- Run the command update for updates
- Update the driver library

Run Windows updates if you’re on version 22H2. Click the check online for updates from Microsoft Update
- Run the upgrade package if you’re on a lower version. Navigate here and click the download button for the following line item - 2022-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5020435)
- Re-run both Command update and Windows update until both of them report there are no additional updates

Open a command prompt and type “sfc /scannow” press enter
- Confirm all errors have been resolved, or aren’t present. If they’re are errors that are unable to be fixed suggest that the user replace the machine and work with them to backup their files
