Overview
The Lightspeed Access System is a classroom tool that allows you to amplify your voice or computer audio over classroom speakers installed in the ceiling. Most classrooms at the secondary level should already have this system installed or will be receiving one in the near future. This technology reduces vocal strain for educators (especially staff that wear masks) by clearly projecting audio over high-quality speakers embedded in the ceiling of classrooms.
Tools/Equipment Needed
- Lightspeed 975 Access System
- Flexmike and charging station
Additional equipment for computer audio amplification:
- Computer
- USB-A to USB-C cord

Voice Projection
- At the start of the day, remove the Flexmike from the charging cradle and place device around neck so that it rests on your collarbone.
- Push the circular button on top of the Flexmic to start amplifying your voice. The mic's light will turn blue when it is amplifying sound.
- Use the volume controls on the side of the mic to adjust your voice level. To mute your voice, push the same circular button as above and the status light will change to white.
- At the end of the day, place the Flexmike back in the charging cradle and the device will automatically start charging.

Computer Audio Amplification
To connect your computer to the Flexmik to amplify computer audio, be sure you have this cable:
(USB-A to USB-C)
Connect the smaller end of this cable to the port on the bottom of your Lightspeed microphone. The other, larger end will plug into any USB port on your computer.
Click on the “speaker” icon at the bottom of your computer screen and ensure the audio playback device is set to “Lightspeed audio”. You may need to adjust the volume, but after this you will be able to play any sound from your computer over the Lightspeed classroom speakers!
