Replacing Mainboard - Backend Steps

Overview
Doing a CB mainboard repair also requires a few backend steps to ensure that both iiq and Google Admin are correctly configured for future management of the freshly repaired device. This document assumes that you’ve done the physical repairs and you’ve enrolled the device into our environment.
Tools/Equipment Needed
- Browser -capable device that you can access both iiq and the Google Admin Console on.
Update IIQ
Update/Create Ticket
- Create a ticket if one doesn’t already exist
- Notate in detail all the repairs that were made

Notate the inventory status changes made in IIQ and GAC for this asset
- Don’t forget to return to this step and record any changes made as you progress through this walkthrough.
- If there are any open tickets associated with the device(s), please update them accordingly and close them out.
Edit the Asset
- Search the asset tag of the device you just repaired.
- Select the options menu drop-down and select edit asset.
- Copy the old serial and paste it into the notes section at the very bottom with a note saying “Serial xyz has been replaced with abc due to a board swap, see details on ticket -xxxxx.” Include the new serial and the ticket number where the board swap work took place.
- While you’re still editing the asset, and you’ve completed the notes portion, change the serial number field to reflect the new serial number of the new main board that is now currently in the device.
- Save the edits!
- Update the ticket with changes!
Update Google Admin Console(GAC)
Edit the asset
- Locate the device in the group “New Chromebooks”
- Edit the asset to include a note regarding the previous serial number
Move the asset to the correct group
- Move the device from the group “New Chromebooks” to the correct 1-to-1 group for the pertinent school that the device will be returned to, or is currently at.
Remove the duplicated entry
- Look up the original serial number.
- Edit the asset and remove the asset tag number from the original serial so we don’t have a duplicate entry.
- Deprovision the device (THIS STEP IS SPECIFICALLY FOR CLASS TECH)
